IKIGAI YOUTH FESTIVAL 2026
Ikigai Youth Festival 2026 is a multidisciplinary arts event that celebrates creativity, purpose, and well-being through the Japanese concept of Ikigai. The festival invites emerging Canadian youth artists to “celebrate art in all its forms” as they explore the connection between creativity, identity, and mental health. Through multiple mediums, youth will share personal narratives, artistic expressions, and reflections on their own journeys toward purpose and belonging.
This year’s festival theme is “Compassion”. Show us what Compassion means to you and how it connects to your Ikigai- the moments, values & small joys that give your life meaning. This could be compassion for yourself, loved ones, animals, the planet, or during times of challenge. Any style or form is welcome.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We welcome submissions from emerging Canadian artists across all mediums, including:
🎨 Visual Art
🖥️ Digital/New Media
🎥 Film/Video, maximum 5 minutes
🎭 Performance Art, maximum 5 minutes
🎶 Music (vocal/instrumental), maximum 5 minutes
📚 Literary Arts (poetry, prose, writing, etc.), maximum 2 minutes
Rules and Guidelines for Submission:
All artists must be between 18 - 29 years old and must be residing, working, or studying in Canada.
All submissions must fit within the theme of “Compassion,” as described above.
Pre-Screening & Selection Notice
All submissions will go through a pre-screening process by the selection committee of Shaktii Foundation.
Please note that entry or submission does not guarantee selection for the festival showcase.
Results will be communicated by Sunday, March 15th, 2026.
Submission Deadline: Saturday, March 1st 2026
